More than 4,100 bags of food delivered to Utah schools
SALT LAKE CITY, December 22, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The holiday season is a time of joy and giving, but it can also be a stressful time for children and families who depend on school lunches as their main source of sustenance. As the schools went on vacation, USANA Kids Eat ran a charity food package to provide families with meals to keep them safe and fed for the rest of the year.
In total, more than 4,100 bags – equivalent to 164,000 meals – were packaged and delivered to 40 schools across Ogden until Spanish Fork.

“One in seven children enters Utah are at risk of going hungry, and programs like USANA Kids Eat are helping to fill the gap,” says Michelle Benedict, president of USANA Kids Eat. “We organize food packages all year round to help feed children Utah. But with the holidays from school, we knew we had to do something extra to help these families. We are extremely grateful to the people and businesses in our local community and the USANA family for their efforts and providing these life-changing meals to families who need them so much.”
Each bag contains 40 meals packaged by community and business volunteers, including USANA executives, who self-packaged 359 bags (equivalent to 14,360 meals) and hand-delivered to Meadowlark Elementary in West Valley City.
“Fighting food insecurity in our local and global community is an important starting point for USANA, and USANA Kids Eat has done a fantastic job of helping Utah children and their families,” he says Brian Paul, president of the USANA Foundation. “This year has been difficult for everyone, but it has been especially difficult for families who have been disproportionately impacted by inflation and other economic hardship. I am extremely proud of the support USANA has provided in our community.”
