Tom Viola and T. Oliver Reid will be honored at the Big Apple Performing Arts Gala

Harmony will take place in February 2023 on the Rooftop Edison.

Executive Director of Broadway Careers Tom Viola will receive the Gary Miller Award on February 13, 2023, at Harmonythe annual gala to benefit the Big Apple Performing Arts, home of the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, Youth Pride Chorus and Tonewall a cappella ensemble.

NY1’s Frank DiLella will host the celebration, which kicks off at 6 p.m. with cocktails at the Edison Rooftop at the Edison Times Square Hotel. The evening will also include dinner, awards, performances and an auction.

The Gary Miller Award, established in 2015 to honor the founding artistic director of the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, is given to honor those whose work has created change in the community. Through Broadway Cares, Viola has spent decades raising awareness and funds to help people living with HIV/AIDS.

The evening will also highlight Hadesvilleit is T. Oliver Reedco-founder of the Black Theater Coalition, with the Big Apple Performing Arts Arts in Action Award, given to an artist who has used their success in entertainment to inspire change, typically within the LGBT community.

Dr. Scott Hadland, Chief of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at MassGeneral, will receive the new Community Call to Action Award, recognizing those who have made a significant impact on both LGBTQ+ and broader communities through their dedication, action and advocacy.
