NORTH SCHUYLKILL – The following is a compilation of police incidents in and around the North Schuylkill area as handled by the Pennsylvania State Police.

Drug possession

POTSVILLE- A Shenandoah woman and a Pottsville man were charged with drug possession after a traffic stop in the city earlier this month.

Schuylkill Haven State Police said they stopped a 2006 Subaru in downtown Pottsville around 2:30 a.m. Dec. 16. 8.

The soldiers then arrested Alicia Jones, 38, of Shenandoah, and Zachary Kohr, 26, of Pottsville, for possession of drugs.

Retail theft

HAZLE TWP. – Hazleton State Police have filed charges against a 41-year-old Hazleton woman accused of stealing $52 worth of meat and vegetables on Dec. 21. 14.

The soldiers charged Digna Soraya Brito-Lopez with summary retail theft.

Soldiers said they were called to the Walmart store at 761 Airport Road and found that Brito-Lopez had failed to pay for several items.

SUGAR BREAD TWP. – No injuries were reported after a crash involving two vehicles on Route 93 and Tomhicken Road last Friday.

State police said the crash happened around 4:45 a.m. 16.

Corey Gilbert, 46, of Berwick, was heading south in a 2005 Subaru Legacy on Route 93 as it approached Tomhicken Road behind Judge Batista, 63, of Hazleton, in a 2010 Ford Explorer.

Gilbert tried to pass Batista, clipped the back of Batista’s SUV and lost control, soldiers said.

Both vehicles sustained crippling damage and were towed away, soldiers said.

HAZLE TWP. – A Hazleton man has been cited for speeding after an accident near town last Thursday.

Soldiers said the crash happened around 10 p.m. Thursday on Arthur Gardner Drive near Church Street.

Kelvin Aquino Rondon, 41, of Hazleton, lost control of his 2017 Acura MDX on snowy pavement and slid down a grass embankment, hitting a tree.

The vehicle was towed off the scene.

HUMBOLDT- A person was taken to hospital after an accident on Route 924 in the Humboldt section of Hazle Township last Friday.

Hazleton State Police said the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. Dec. 10. 16 on Route 924 near Oakridge Road.

Francizco Rodriguez Hernandez, 31, of Hazle Township, was traveling west on Highway 924 in a 2014 Toyota Rav4 when he lost control of the vehicle.

The SUV slid, rolled up an embankment and overturned, soldiers said.

Rodriguez Hernandez was not injured, but his passenger, 27-year-old Jorge Paulino Cruz of Hazle Township, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Hazleton for treatment.

Rodriguez Hernandez was cited for speeding.

HUMBOLDT- No injuries were reported in an accident last Thursday at the Humboldt Industrial Park.

Hazleton State Police said the crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Dec. 10. 15 on Oak Ridge Road near Simmons Drive.

Soldiers said Lissette Sosa, 42, of Berwick, was heading east on Oak Ridge Road in a 2014 Toyota Sienna, behind Arthur Ford Washington, 50, of West Hazleton, in a 2006 Mazda minivan.

Ford Washington slowed for a snow plow and was hit by Sosa, whose alleged soldiers were driving too fast for the conditions.

Sosa received a written warning, while Ford Washington was cited for driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Retail theft

HAZLE TWP. – Two from West Hazleton have been charged with retail theft, accused of stealing nearly $200 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

Troopers said they were called to the Walmart in Hazle Township around 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 1. 17 for the incident.

Xachary Hudock, 22, and Micala Sedar, 24, both of West Hazleton, have been charged with retail theft, allegedly for attempting to withdraw $198.91 worth of goods without paying.
