ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) — As the years go by and as kids get older, it’s becoming more and more likely that your kids have some sort of technology on their wish list for Christmas.
Almost all new technology available has some form of access to the internet, such as the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Game Pass, Meta Quest, and every smartphone, especially the latest Apple phone.
In the new iOS, you can undo 16 text messages, lock hidden photos, transfer FaceTime calls to another device, and stream movies in messages with Shareplay.
An online safety company known as Bark Companies wants to help parents and guardians protect the new gifts to put their mind at ease. Chief Parenting Officer, Titania Jordan said the sooner you jump on it, the better.
“Our kids will be exposed to very mature content, dangerous people, problematic issues much younger than you and I ever did and more often,” Jordan said. “That’s just the reality. So we need to talk to our kids about those uncomfortable topics at a much younger age. And if you talk to your kids younger and more often, you’re better suited for when not ifs, when they encounter things that are just uncomfortable in the digital world, because there’s plenty of that.”
Jordan says she researches any new type of technology you want to buy for your child, and that if you want to give your child their first cell phone, she recommends Android because it’s safer to navigate.
If you’re interested in a smartphone that gives you complete control over what your kids can and can’t see, Bark Technologies is offering a new smartphone to do just that. To learn more about that, check out their website The Bark Phone for Kids | visit Barking.
