The Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has celebrated and distributed gift items to 1,000 children in a project tagged: ‘Ori-Omi Children’s Party 2022’.

The children between the ages of two and 18 received branded gift items in addition to a special gift given to winners of games and dance competitions.

They were also excited about other attractions such as bouncy castles and horseback riding during the Christmas celebration program.

Culture and Tourism Commissioner Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo said the program was designed to give children in the Abeokuta area an unforgettable vacation.

She said celebrating with others besides their families in a controlled and safe atmosphere was sure to put a smile on their faces.

“This is one of the lofty ideas of the current government to spread love and integrate children into the Christmas celebration.

“We as the administration understand that the celebration is not complete without children being touched tenderly with love,” she said.

Some children, including Emmanuel Nwabusi, Kolade Adegoke and Esther Fagbenro, thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun for the gesture.

They described it as an act of kindness, adding that “the celebration was first class”.

Also delighted Abdulwasiu Banmeke, who spoke in the Yoruba language, said he participated in several programs of the event for more than eight hours.

Banmeke, winner of the dance competition, said the event gave him an opportunity to interact freely and closely with people who are not his acquaintances.

“I hope it will continue to be this way every holiday season,” he said.
