Libraries offer children's activities during the holidays

Noon Year's Eve was celebrated in 2014 at the Ida Branch of the Monroe County Library System.  A New Year's Eve program is scheduled for December 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ellis Library & Reference Center.  It is just one of many children's offers planned for the Christmas holidays.

The Monroe County Library System offers activities for children during the Christmas holidays.

• A Christmas holiday grab bag is available at the Summerfield-Petersburg and Maybee branches. The bag contains activities and assignments that children can make at home.

• A Boxing Day pick-up package can be requested through the Carleton branch. The kit includes a craft, recipes and a history of Boxing Day, which is celebrated on December 26. Stock is limited. For a kit, call the branch at 734-654-2180.

• Three Christmas Holiday Programs have been established by the LS Navarre Branch Library, 113 E. Second St. All sessions are held from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM

“Create Play Snow” is scheduled for December 27.

“Make Your Own Snow Globe” will be held on December 28.

“Winter Wonderland Art” is scheduled for December 29.

• On December 27, a Lego Challenge will take place at the Ellis Library & Reference Center, 3700 S. Custer Road from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
