We are seeking enthusiastic colleagues for two assistant professorships to strengthen our interdisciplinary research focused on social transitions and behavior change.
The growing need to more fully investigate complex societal issues requires expertise that transcends the boundaries of a specific academic discipline. At the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (TSB) of Tilburg University, we aim to connect specialist knowledge, experience and related research networks of research groups in close cooperation with Herbert Simon Research Institute to acquire interdisciplinary knowledge that will increase the understanding of the well-being of individuals, teams, organizations and society and their ability to adapt to a dynamic living and working environment. Our interdisciplinary research addresses topical themes requiring fundamental and applied interdisciplinary research and combines knowledge and insights from a select group of disciplines: cognitive psychology and neuropsychology, developmental and forensic psychology, medical and clinical psychology, social, health sciences, human resource management. , organization & management, sociology, methodology and statistics, and data science.
Our School invests in the research themes of mental disorders, Social Transitions and Behavior Change, and social inequality and diversity. To further strengthen the social transitions and behavior change research axis, and give a strong impetus to interdisciplinary research within our School, we wish to appoint two assistant professors, one of whom will be integrated into the Department of Organizational Studies and the other in the Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology.
Working as an assistant professor will involve developing your own research ideas and activities, which are related to the research topic Social Transitions and Behavior Change corresponding to your expertise. Together with the other team members working on the same research topic, you will define the common research agenda and develop a network inside and outside the school and university (scientific team) .
In addition to research, you will be involved in teaching in the area of Organization and Management Studies or Medical and Clinical Psychology. This includes coordinating courses, delivering lectures and working groups, supervising students in various activities of our programs and supervising thesis. You will carry out your teaching duties in consultation with the head of department.
For medical and clinical psychology
The members of the department teach in the following programs: Bachelor Psychology, Master Clinical Psychology, Master Medical Psychology, Master Research Individual Differences and Evaluation). A positive motivation for teaching and an inspiring and motivating attitude towards students are therefore necessary. The duties of the current vacancy consist of teaching mainly in Dutch, but also in English. Fluency in Dutch and English is therefore required.
For organizational studies
The members of the department teach in the following programs: Bachelor Organisatiewetenschappen, Master Organization Studies, Bachelor Global Management of Social Issues, Master track Global Management of Social Issues and Research Master Social and Behavioral Sciences of the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (TSB ) . The pedagogical tasks of this position are, depending on your profile, to teach, in Dutch or in English, in academic programs involving the Department of Organizational Studies, for example in the courses Introduction to Organizational Studies, Organizational Theory, Strategic Decision Making, Organizational Behavior, and Tricky Problems (click on here for an overview of our programs and courses).
Terms:
- (In the final phase of obtaining a) Ph.D. degree in one of the social or behavioral sciences
- Affinity with interdisciplinary research, you want to bring your ideas to life within an interdisciplinary team.
- Proven research expertise, visible through publications in high quality international scientific journals or at least an ambitious pipeline of (submitted) papers and contributions to academic conferences and experience with open science.
- Willingness to write grant proposals for prestigious granting institutions (e.g. Dutch National Science Foundation (NWO), European Research Council (ERC)).
- Demonstration of scientific integrity.
- Experience and affinity with teaching.
- The desire to acquire the basic university teaching qualification (UTQ) from Tilburg University, if you have not already obtained a similar qualification.
- Fluency in English (CEFR: level C2); fluency in Dutch (mandatory for the position in the Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology).
- Personal leadership: you take responsibility for your work and career and have a good level of self-knowledge;
- Team spirit: you feel part of a team and you express it through collaboration, sharing knowledge and experiences and contributing to an open and inclusive work environment;.
Salary benefits:
This is a permanent job offer. You benefit from a temporary employment contract for a period of 18 months. After this period, when your suitability for the position has been proven, you will be established.
This is a position for 0.8 to 1.0 FTE (32 to 40 hours per week).
The salary amounts to a minimum of €3,974 and a maximum of €6,181 gross per month for full-time employment, based on the UFO Assistant Professor profile and the 11-12 salary scale of the collective agreement work for Dutch universities (CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten).
