While most of these famous YouTubers skipped college to take advantage of their platform, just as many decided to put their ideas together and go to college. These include some of the best known artists, cover artists and players on the second most visited website after Google search.
For many of these individuals, a college education has contributed greatly to their overall success, sometimes in unexpected ways. For example, singer and musician Sam Tsui met Kurt Hugo Schneider in college. Other than that, the YouTuber was well known for constantly showcasing her adorable dogs on her channel. In fact, her account name is derived from her short-haired chihuahua, Marbles. His dog Kermit, an Italian greyhound, entertains viewers endlessly.
Although Mourey no longer makes videos today, his YouTube channel is still up and running. In 10 years, she has accumulated nearly 1.7 billion video views and more than 20 million subscribers.
Mourey attended Suffolk University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Subsequently, she attended Boston University to pursue a Masters of Education in Sports Psychology and Counseling.
Davey Wavey
Davey Wavey was one of the first YouTubers to speak openly about the issues faced by LGBTQ+ people in society. He posted his first video in 2007 and continued to make more over time. Topics he would cover include love and sex, gay misconceptions, stigma, slut shaming, HIV, body issues, and more.
The YouTuber, who came out as gay aged 16, attended Seton Hall University as an openly gay man. He took on the role of resident assistant in one of the school’s dormitories. Despite much opposition, he is constantly defended for LGBT students through the student-run gay-straight alliance.

Colleen Ballinger has become an internet sensation with her online persona Miranda Sings. Through the character, she has posted more than 800 videos of talentless but selfish satirical singers who hope to break into show business by sharing vlogs and covers online.
The character was so well received that Ballinger has since moved on to live-action one-woman comedy acts. On those shows, she sang offbeat pop hits as Miranda, slammed famous pop and Broadway stars and told them to quit show business, read her YouTube channel’s “hate mail” comments, and more. .
Apart from Miranda Sings, Ballinger is a talented singer, actress and comedian. She has performed in various theater productions, including the Broadway musical “Waitress.”
Ballinger graduated from Azusa Pacific University, majoring in vocal performance.
Sam Tsui
Sam Tsui is perhaps one of the most famous YouTubers who started out as a cover artist. To date, his YouTube channel has over three million subscribers. He posts a new video every Friday, often covering the latest pop hit or trending song.
Tsui attended Yale University and majored in Classical Greek. There he was a member of The Duke of Yale’s Menan all-male acapella group.
It was at Yale that Tsui began forming a partnership with his longtime collaborator and music producer, Kurt Hugo Schneider. Schneider produced the musical web series “Music College”, a parody of “High School Musical” which was posted in its entirety to YouTube. Tsui played the main character in the hugely popular series.
Since then, the two have continued to work together creating covers, mash-ups and releasing original songs.
Cassey Ho
Cassey Ho is a world famous fitness youtuber and entrepreneur. Her adventure in creating online fitness videos began in 2009 when she decided to move from Los Angeles to Boston. She worked as a part-time Pilates instructor and hoped to provide her former students with online fitness videos after she moved.
She then created her YouTube channel, “Blogilates” — a portmanteau of the words blog and Pilates — and posted the occasional fitness video. As his videos started to gain popularity, he was asked to share more workout videos targeting specific muscle groups – and the rest is history.
Since then, she has expanded by creating her own fitness clothing line, POPFLEX. In 2017, TIME named her one of 25 most influential people on the internet.
Ho attended Whittier College on a full scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She originally planned to become a doctorbut decided not to pursue his passion for fitness online.
