Father does not force children to be quiet when pregnant woman has a headache: "It is the children's home"

A father is called out for refusing to teach his children “compassion for others.”

The father wrote on Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum for help. His wife is seven months pregnant and he has two children aged five and eight from a previous marriage.

His wife gets such a bad headache that they need painkillers. However, she indicates that they do not work. One day when she had a headache, the children were playing loudly while the father was working at home.

His wife asked him to tell his children to calm down, but he refused.

“She’s upset, but the way I see it, is it the children’s home?” He wrote. “They’re playing, what should I say ‘my wife has a headache, go read a book?'”

Redditors believed it was the father’s responsibility to raise his two children while his pregnant wife was unwell.

“Is he seriously asking ‘what does she want me to do, be a parent to my kids?'” one commented.

“If you refuse to teach your kids empathy, you are an AH,” wrote another.

“Teach your kids some compassion for others,” said one.

“Stop having kids if you don’t want to be a parent,” one user added.
