In recent months, Andrea Bocelli, Matteo Bocelli and Virginia Bocelli have toured the world with their special festive album A Family Christmas. The 25-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter of the Italian tenor have been proving for years that they have inherited their father’s singing talent. As Christmas Day approaches, the trio performed a seasonal classic on BBC Breakfast this morning.

Together with a guitarist, Andrea sat at a piano to play and sing the Spanish Christmas carol Feliz Navidad, featured on their new record. The 64-year-old was joined by Matteo and Virginia, who sang alongside their father in the BBC segment.

The three also performed the song for a special The Simpsons short, available to stream on Disney+. In the video, the cartoon family wakes up on Christmas Day to discover that Homer Marge has received Andrea Bocelli as a gift herself, before Matteo and Virginia show up to sing Feliz Navidad as a trio.

Andrea shared a Christmas photo of the family, which also features his wife Veronica and other son Amos, alongside a festive message of hope.

Andrea signed off: “The Bocelli family wish you a Merry Christmas, and may that seasonal feeling, which we all know without giving it a name, take root today and sprout hope, serenity and faith every day.”

Initially, the maestro admitted that he wasn’t sure if he wanted to make another Christmas album. On a recent livestream, Andrea said, “Honestly, I wasn’t very convinced at first. Years ago I made a Christmas album. But then I thought family is so important… family is in trouble during this time, this is a great opportunity and an important message for everyone. Family has always been the most important thing to me. The possibility to [work alongside] my family is a dream to me. Virginia’s voice is an angel’s voice and Matteo’s is a deep expressive voice and then unfortunately there’s my voice too!”

The Italian tenor said about the opportunity to work on the A Family Christmas album with his children: “I think there is nothing more beautiful than making music with your children; I consider it a privilege.”

Meanwhile, Matteo added: “Singing these songs together, feeling the holiday warmth with my family is something very special. That’s what Christmas is all about: making memories together to cherish forever. It’s really exciting to think that people will have a copy of our album under their tree.

A Family Christmas is out now.
